Finds Under $40! Pinterest Love!

Hey babes! Welcome to this week's edition of Finds Under $40! Today I'm recreating one of my fave pins from Pinterest! As soon as I saw this pin I knew I wanted to reproduce it! I added my own little twist to it to make it a little bit more cold weather friendly! A statement necklace and some oxblood booties give the look that perfect downtown vibe!

Dance Daze

Hey babes! Welcome to Wednesday! One of my favorite "trends" right now is the well placed red lip. I've been wearing red lipstick since my dance team days---but was never really that into it. Maybe because it went along with 10lbs of makeup! My style has definitely transformed since my good ol' high school days. But, I've held onto a few things from dance team: sequins, red lipstick, and top buns--who would have thought?

Rosy

Hey babydolls!! Welcome to a new week! I'm so jealous of you all that got MLK Day off! I'm so glad to be back home. I was dog-sitting all last week and it was crazy! Bizbee (the puppy I was watching) was adorable but sometimes you just want your own things. I would come home and pack something every night for the next day and would ALWAYS forget something! I'm usually soo good about remembering the essentials. But last week, my mind just wasn't having it! Does that ever happen to y'all?

Pumped

Hey babes! Happy Thursday! I am so glad this week is winding down and that it is warming up! It's not right when it's colder in Texas than New York! I love a look that is put-together but also comfy! An oversized sweater and leather leggings are just the ticket. The look is really versatile. You can wear a pair of cute flats or booties to run around all day in and then just switch to a pair of pumps and add some statement necklaces and you're ready for happy hour!

Oro

Hey lovebugs! Happy Wednesday! This week has been so gray and rainy. It has definitely been getting to me! Too bad I don't drink coffee (such a bad Colombian!) because I could definitely use a jolt during my workday! Color isn't a bad way to add a little pep in your step on dreary days! My golden trousers definitely add a little verve to my Wednesday!

Midnight Musings

Hey babes! Welcome to a new series I'm starting on the blog titled "Midnight Musings". I'm one of those overanalyzers who spends valuable sleeping time pondering pieces of my day. What better way to work through them than with you all? I'm thinking this may be a weekly/biweekly post. That just muses on general topics from friends to shopping habits; that we may all have deliberated about--at one time or another. Let me know what y'all think! And if there are any topics you would like to discuss!

We’ve all been there. That moment when you’re at lunch and you feel like you’re eating alone because your friend is constantly staring at their phone. Not to say I’m not guilty of wanting to get the “perfect” Instagram shot of my drink or dessert; but, you can get the “shot”, upload it, tweet it, and be done with it. Technology is taking over our day-to-day interactions, and not in a good way. You see it everywhere. The groups of people sitting at a table “interacting” when their heads are actually buried in their smart phones.

I’m always in a constant struggle over whether to say something or not. I mean, they’re my friends; I want to spend time with them; but, not like that. We live in a world where knowledge is at our fingertips. I’m always questioning how people “truly lived” without all the technology we have. I mean, how did people ever get anywhere without the GPS on the iPhone. Seriously?!

But, in all seriousness, we need to take a few steps away from the constant buzz of technology when we should be building true relationships. I’m tired of being the third wheel to “Guess what Kim Kardashian just tweeted!” I would rather know about the cute guy you just met or the great movie you saw without having to get all of my info in a 160 character blurb.

Not to sound melodramatic. But I’m just asking for people to be present. Some of the things I value most in life are honesty and being real. You can’t really get to the heart of someone if you can never look them in the eye!

I’ve heard about people who put their cell phones in the middle of the table on vibrate when they’re at dinner, etc. And if someone can’t help but reach over and grab theirs--then they have to pay for everyone’s dinner, or a round of drinks, etc. That’s not such a bad idea. May just have to try it next time I’m out!

Have any of y’all dealt with an extreme case of smartphone-itis? What kinds of tricks did you employ? Or did you just lay your cards out on the table and asked for some real-time?

Elephant Walk

Hey babes! Welcome to a new week and a New Year! I cannot believe it's 2013! I'm a week behind, but today is the first day I actually wrote the year when I dated a letter. Craziness! Tons of brainstorming was going on behind the scenes while I was away! I cannot wait to start implementing my new ideas tomorrow!
